We need some help from you. This summer we are planning a road trip. It is not quite your average road trip however. We are selling all our stuff, buying a 5th wheel and living in it for a year! EEEEEK! It’s exciting and scary both at the same time. And, we need your help to figure out where we want to go!
We are so ready to sell all of our things that just overwhelm us, and live a simpler lifestyle. This idea really sounds fabulous as I think every family member in our household (2 adults, 3 kids & a dog) has too much stuff! Too many clothes, too many toys, and just too much.
This isn’t to say we are not completely grateful for what we have. We are! We feel truly blessed for all that we have. We now are ready to simplify. Live MORE on LESS.
A big truth is the nature of Robbie’s flea market flipping business tends to lend a hand to stuff accumulating at our house. He has been doing that for 20 years now and he loves it! In the past 2 years he has kicked it up a notch and has sold (and bought!) a lot more. so it has gotten a little overwhelming with some of our inventory. He has made good money this year so I can’t complain, but it is time to clear it out! 🙂
I definitely can’t blame everything on his flipping business, we all just have too much. Why do I need clothes in my closet from college? really? Why do the kids need 1,253 toys? They don’t. So a 5th wheel will make a lot of it disappear. It has to or we will drown in such a tiny space.
Coming back to the whole reason for this post – We want to know where we should go on our travels. What places should we not miss out on? We have young kids (currently ages 4, 2, and 9 months), so we want to make it fun for them too. We realize they are young and won’t remember a lot of the trip, but we felt that if we didn’t do this now, we may never do it! (And it gives us an excuse to go again when they are older).
We originally said we wanted to be sure to hit all 48 states of the continental US, but then we realized that a big part of this trip is to slow down and reconnect as a couple, as a family, and with God. We don’t want to rush from place to place because we HAVE to see everything. We want to enjoy our time and slow down life. (Doesn’t it always feel go go go go go go go go go?!)
We do want to visit places with good weather – meaning that we don’t want to be in Michigan for the dead winter! We will plan to visit snow (briefly), but no long stays in it. However we will definitely hit up Michigan and Minnesota in the summer time. 🙂
Once we get a couple of key locations we want to visit, we will map out our proposed course.
Please comment below and let us know what states, cities, towns, historical sites, and more that we should visit. And which time of the year is best to visit them. Why are they your favorites? What do you love about them? Any kid-friendly activities are a bonus too! Anyone who is a RVer or camper, we would love to hear about some of your favorite campsites as well.
We are excited to hear from you and thanks for being a part of this crazy adventure. If you would like to receive updates on our journey, please drop us your e-mail here.
We have A LOT of work to do in the next 6 months to make this happen, so here we go!
We Want To Hear From You
What is one of your favorite locations that you have visited in the continental US? And if you are an RVer or Camper, what are some of your favorite campsites?
